On 21 October 2026 Anthropic launched Claude Duet and Meta said its Muse agent passed 10 million people. OpenAI's Dots arrived three weeks earlier. All three work in the background and come back to you. They are built for different people, though, and for now most of them are US-only.

  • Claude Duet (21 Oct) is a research preview for US Pro and Max subscribers via a waitlist. It runs on its own cloud computer, sends a morning brief and asks before it sends, pays, signs or deletes.
  • ChatGPT Dots (29 Sep) is OpenAI's always-on agent for ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, reachable in Slack and Teams.
  • Meta Muse passed 10 million people since early September. Shopping is its most common use, and Meta plans paid commerce tools for businesses.
  • For a client, the agent is the easy part. The value is in the setup: which accounts it sees, what needs approval, and what it should do every morning.

Claude Duet: a proactive agent that asks before it acts

Anthropic's Claude Duet is a separate app on web, iOS and Android that runs on Claude Opus 5.5. It has its own cloud computer and browser, so it keeps working when you close the app. It reads email and calendar, sends a morning brief and only pings you when something needs attention. It asks for approval before it sends messages, makes payments, signs documents or deletes anything.

The business features stand out. Duet connects to Stripe to look at outstanding invoices and draft payment reminders, and can buy through Link and Shop Pay after you approve. It has plugins, including one for small businesses. A Make tab produces editable research briefs, financial models, decks and dashboards. Only you can mark a task as done. Anthropic itself lists limits: Duet can misjudge urgency and cannot show you its browser. There is no extra price, but background work counts towards your usage limits. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.

Your angle"Chase my unpaid invoices and tell me what needs me today" is a job almost every owner will recognise. Setting up which inboxes, calendars and Stripe account the agent sees, and what it must never do alone, is work you can do for them.

ChatGPT Dots: an always-on agent you message in Slack

OpenAI showed Dots at DevDay on 29 September. A Dot runs on GPT-6 Astra, is always on and works on your goals in the background. It is available for ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium in countries where it has rolled out. You can message a Dot in Slack and Microsoft Teams, SMS is listed as coming soon, and integration with Microsoft Agent 365 is planned. Reporting on pricing says ChatGPT Pro is not offered in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

Your angleTeams that already live in Slack or Teams get an agent where they already work. That makes the setup about channels and permissions, not about teaching staff a new app.

Meta Muse: 10 million people, and shopping comes first

On Meta's Q3 earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg said "more than 10 million people have started using" Muse since its early September rollout in the US and Canada. Shopping is the most common use, with an average purchase of $200, according to Meta. The company plans commerce tools for businesses with transaction fees, and AI subscriptions for heavy business users. Muse is coming to Meta's glasses next month.

Your angleIf customers start shopping through an agent, a shop has to be easy for that agent to read: clear product data, prices and stock. We covered how to get found by buying agents in our B2A briefing.

Which personal agent for which client: 5 questions

Spreadsheet an AI agent filled by itself: every action logged in a row the owner can check
Whatever agent you pick: one row per action, so the owner can see what it did.

Ask these before you recommend one of the three, or a custom agent instead:

  1. Where is the client based? All three start in North America. For a client in Europe or the UK, plan for a custom setup or wait for the rollout.
  2. Where does the team already talk? Slack or Teams points to Dots. A solo owner on a phone fits Duet's app.
  3. Is money involved? Invoices and payments need a clear approval step. Duet has that built in; for anything else, design it yourself.
  4. Does the client sell to consumers? Then Muse is less a tool to use and more a channel to be found in. Work on product data first.
  5. Who reads the log? Agree who checks what the agent did each week. Our 7-check security checklist covers the rest.
🧭Proactive is the new default.

All three come back to you instead of waiting for a prompt. Owners will expect that from any agent you sell.

🌍Europe waits.

US-first rollouts leave a gap. A custom agent setup is still the only option for many clients outside North America.

🛒Agents buy.

Muse's top use is shopping. Shops that are easy for an agent to read will win those sales.
